The table above lists equivalent valves for the RA17 series of receivers and should NOT be considered exhaustive. Note that although the 6AL5 is essentially identical to the EB91, it and the CV4007 have much shorter envelopes than the EB91, CV140 and CV4024. If fitting a shorter valve, it might be advisable to reposition the spring inside the screening can.


NOTE:

The 6F33 is NOT interchangeable with the 6AS6 … despite being electrically identical; grids 2 and 3 are swapped.


The GZ33 was only fitted to early RA17s but was found to be unsatisfactory … Subsequently replaced by the GZ34.


The 5V4G was only fitted in the North American RA17C3 (a MKII). Physically similar to the GZ32, the 5V4G is superior in that it is capable of handling 175mA. North American RA17s were eventually shipped with solid-state rectifiers with a blanking plate fitted over the hole for the valve rectifier socket. This was the case for C3s and the later C12 models.
